Meet the Team: Haris Sefer
Published on 3 February 2023Meet the Team: Haris Sefer
Who are the people that work at Voerman Group? How does a day in their lives look like? And what drives them to work within the moving and relocation industry? In this series of articles, we put some of our enthusiastic employees in the spotlight. This time: Haris Sefer, 28 years old and working as an International Move Coordinator at Voerman Group since October 2022.
A bilingual Bosnian Folk song singer from The Hague
Within the Voerman Group, we have lots of nationalities and employees with interesting backgrounds. Haris is definitely one of them! ‘I am born and raised in The Hague, the Netherlands, but I am from Bosnian descent. I speak five languages and love embracing the multicultural aspect of living in The Hague and being raised bilingually.’
His Bosnian roots can be found in his passion for singing. ‘I have my own, original Bosnian folk songs and I perform regularly across The Netherlands and other European countries.’ Haris is a man with many hobbies. Besides singing he loves to read about history, listen to vinyl records and gaming. He is also a family man. ‘My favorite time of the week is sitting at home with my wife on a Friday or Saturday night and watching a cheesy rom-com, followed by a James Bond movie.’
A diverse and exciting international business
Haris started working for Voerman Group in October 2022. The international aspect of the business is what made him apply for the job, combined with the fact that coordinating draws out his qualities and experiences. ‘I believe Voerman stands out in the way we work as a team. We don’t look at each other as that other guy at that desk who is on my team, but it feels more as if we all together decided to start a moving company. In that way, there is a lot that is just discussed out in the open and with less walls between us, it really helps when whoever of us faces a work challenge.’
Asking Haris about his best experience in his work so far, he has a very concrete answer. ‘One day we made it possible for a young mother to move on a certain date. The joy and excitement of making that possible really showed how moving impacts one’s life and how we can eliminate a lot of anxiety and stress doing what we do best. It gives you a lot of pleasure and goodwill when a job is well done and the appreciation pushes you through even the more challenging aspects of the job.’
Looking towards the future, Haris hopes to develop himself even more to be able to provide pointers and feedback for the team and whole family of Voerman. On a personal note, after all that has been going on in this world, he wants to focus more on enjoying the little things and leaving him and his relatives the room to develop step by step as people and professionals.
