U.S. Port Strike: be aware for potential delays and additional costs

Published on 19 December 2012

The major steamship lines have announced a potential increase, effective January 1 2013, in the event of a strike, lockout, slowdown, or congestion at U.S. ports.

Unfortunately the negotiations between labor and management have been unsuccessful. To remain price competitive the charges will not be added to the rates, however it may be assessed by the steamship lines on January 1 or later.

Any shipments not “off pier” by December 28, may be caught in this strike and held till the strike ends.

Please be aware of the potential delays and additional costs when this strike takes place.
